Surviving and Thriving With Jordan Jonas, Alone Winner Season 6
In this conversation Jordan and I discuss everything from his emotions when killing the moose on day 20 of being alone, his younger days trapping in remote Siberia, to both our relationships with wild things and wild places. Jordan's perspective and experience is the real deal.

Просмотров 10 тыс.День назад
Cade and I discuss elk hunting tactics that he has perfected over years of guiding in some of the most remote parts of Wyoming. I've spent a lot of time in the mountains with Cade and he is the real deal. We also have a short discussion on gear - what is most underrated and overrated. 4 Overpriced Pieces of Backcountry Gear I'll Pay For
Просмотров 34 тыс.День назад
Some new backcountry gear that I have used and tested over several seasons of guiding elk, deer and bear hunters. You might look at these items and think they are way overpriced for what they are... However, I found the value in them over time and use in the field. They had to prove themselves to get on this short list. #backpacking #hunting #bushcraft #outdoors #huntinggear #pursuitwithcliff B...

I looked through these in sportsmen’s I didn’t like them they made me sick. I understand looking outside at distances might not be as bad but the way it worked felt unnatural I like the tripod method with quality glass. Im not hating by no means they just don’t work for me

GREAT VIDEO!!!! I ran across some hunters who downed a 6x6 bull elk just before dark, and then let it lay until the next morning. Sadly, a pack of wolves feasted on the elk during the night.

everything is more crowded, not just hunting. Can’t hardly get into glacier park any more. Regular state campgrounds are booked up months in advance. Rafting the lower main salmon use to be secluded but can’t even get a beach anymore. Everybody’s got a raft, rv, dirt bike and a bow nowadays.

As hunters we spend a lot of time studying our prey and our weapons to become more proficient. So it’s normal to feel that connection with an animal once it’s down. Every elk, deer, pronghorn buck and exotic animal taken is etched into my brain. Unfortunately after 40+ years I can’t clearly recall every doe antelope taken. I think I placed more value on the animal not for the trophy quality but on the difficulty of the hunt.

The fruit is good for sugar trickling when you are making a big long climb or working hard enough to get your heart rate above zone 2 for an extended period and you move into burning more glycogen stores from the liver. All fat adapted ultra athletes use the sugar trickle when they are climbing on the bike or running up hill.

That workshop is just too big to be lugging around with you. Just get yourself two of those 3 inch stones diamond ceramic whatever, with the leather pouches, get 1000 fine and get a 600 fine and you’re done, you need anything more than a 600 you’re a screwup and you don’t deserve to be eating anything and I’m a vegetarian and I know this….geez but you’re right, I think? I fell asleep halfway through so I don’t know how long you were talking but yeah you’re right dude they just need a ceramic and one of those orange India stones that are like 600.. because when your 😅hunting you’re just sitting around for hours anyway you should at least be sharpening your damn knife!.. not to mention you’re supposed to have two knives anyway one 6 inch K bar BK 18 or something and then another pocket knife like a 3 1/2 inch or like that Kershaw fold up with M390 steel or something as your back up for when the other knife gets dull and that would still take up less room than that damn workshop knife sharpener…
